Numerology Meaning
The basis of all numerology is, of course, the meanings of
each numeric vibration. We will present the basic vibrations here from 0 through 10 and the
Master Numbers of 11 and 22. Be aware that most Numerologists consider each numbers
importance and they interpret the larger numbers before they reduce a number to it's smaller
base value from 0 - 10.

Ancient writing from the Aboriginal People of Australia
The following chart will be used to interpret the Numbers and
their meanings, symbolic and literal through history. These interpretations are basic and
typical ones, however each number could hold it's own interpretation for each unique
individual; and it is up to the individual themselves to come to terms with their own
interpretations. If an individual numeric symbolism is present this should take precedence
over the historical meanings portrayed here.
Choose a number to go to that meaning:

(symbolically), ruler of Cancer |
Emptiness, spiritual essence, nothingness, blank |
Emptiness but containing everything. The Essential Void |
|
Derived from the Latin 'nulla figura' (not a real figure) and relatively new in
terms of mystical symbolism. Ancient Mayans and Olmecs had a basic
understanding of the concept and represented Zero as an empty oyster. We can
look at the Oyster as a give of life and therefore Zero as both an empty,
hollow form but also a form which produces a living thing or another being
almost magically.
Character traits: Empty yet whole. Essence of all things, accepting
and creative.
Negative tendencies: Without form, shapeless. Lack of detail,
unorganized.

One with God, Male Phallus, a Point (in
geometry), God the Father, Goodness (for Male dominated societies), Bad (for
Female dominated societies)
Astrology: Sun ruler of Leo |
Independence, loneliness, creativity, originality, dominance,
leadership, impatience. |
Daring and self-reliant. Pioneering, Independent and
Creative. |
|
All things are at their essence 'one thing'. There is One whole which has
created a deep religious and mystical tradition identifying unity and
singleness with goodness and therefor diversity and difference as bad. In all
religions the essence of the belief is that of One God (even within
Christianity, where the Trinity is well known, the eventual source is always
One.) At first One was thought of as not even being a number at all since all
other numbers are made from it - and it was seen as combining both opposites of
odd and even and therefore all other opposites in the universe; because of this
it was the number 10 that was seen as completion and perfection since it
completed the series of essential numbers (1-9) and brought them all back to
unity (10 = 1 + 0 = 1).
Character traits: Exceptionally powerful and dominating personality.
Individualistic and intensely original and creative. An inspired and inspiring
leader and a pioneer. Efficient and determined and good at initiating new
projects.
Negative tendencies: Stubborn and contrary. Resenting authority, rarely
seeking advice or follow it. Single-minded, wilful, impatient and possibly
quick tempered. Obstinately proud and possibly difficult to deal with.

Female, God the Mother, Earth, Goodness (for
Female dominated societies), Bad (for Male dominated societies)
Astrology: Moon ruler of
Cancer |
Quiet, passive, diplomatic, co-operation, Comforting and
soothing. Intuitive, compromising, patient. |
Patient and frugal. Easy-going, soft, indulgent and not
physically strong. |
|
As a number two represents bad (in the modern context), 2 is naturally the
opposite of 1, which was seen as God and goodness - however NO number by itself
is bad and this should be taken in context. The symbolic interpretation can be
seen with the use of two (pairs) or pillars used to signify an entry way to a
temple (or holy veil). Note that the Pentagram (with 1 point upward) turned
upside down (and two points upward) can be used to signify this difference
between one (goodness) and two (bad). This symbol for two can then be seen in
it's symbolic interpretation as the two horns (on a devil's head).
Character traits: Good at comforting others, inclined to take up
fads. Co-operative and good-natured, symphathetic and understanding, helpful
and good at keeping a secret. Gets along well with others but may be shy and
timid. Likes detail and settled routine somewhat as long as others are around
and may be worried by newness and sudden changes.
Negative tendencies: Unambitious, lacks self-confidence, insecure and
restless.

Gemini |
Charming, out-going, self-expressive, extroverted, abundance,
active, energetic, proud. |
Charming, entertaining, successful communicator with a
natural attraction for money and the opposite sex. |

The Trinity in Christian numerology is very important and naturally linked with
the most holy, perfect and the best. The number 3 has been linked with the
superlative before Christianity, and is translated by the Greeks as
superlatively great, and the Latin as happiest. God is related to the number 3
as having a surface and being real (manifested) or 'touchable', this becomes
further defined with the number 4 and the addition of a fourth point which
creates a solidity. Completeness is symbolized by 3 (as well as 7 and 9) but
for different reasons.
Character traits: Enjoys being the center of attention, tends to show
off and loves to be admired, but is quite often more sensitive then the
exterior suggests. Has a tendency to expend energies wastefully in too many
directions. With a love of pleasure also may be wasteful with money.

The Sabbath - seventh day (rest/worship), 7
Virtues, 7 Deadly Sins, Holy (3) + Mundane/Earthy (4)
Astrology: Jupiter ruler of
Aquarius |
Spirituality, completeness, solitary, isolation,
introspection |
Mystical, scholarly, a philosopher and recluse. |
|
There are many 7 references throughout ancient religion: 7 sacraments, 7
virtues, 7 sins, 7 petitions, 7 'gifts of the spirit' - wisdom, understanding,
cooperation, strength, knowledge, holiness. Seven is associated with the moon
and therefore a number of reflection (symbolically from the reflection of
sunlight from the Moon. Overall the implication is that this is a magical
number; the person or thing referred to may be mystical and 'all-knowing' or
desiring knowledge beyond all other things. A completeness which is gained only
from true insight, but at the expense of an inward focus, aloofness and
isolation. This completeness is symbolized by 7 as well as 3 and 9.
Character traits: The Mystic, philosopher. Introspective thoughtful
and somewhat aloof. Quiet, intuitive and meditative with a global
perspective.
Negative tendencies: Aloof, isolated, solitary. May be secretive,
sensitive but not openly and sometimes pessimistic.

Eternity, infinity, Caduceus symbol, God of
trade/commerce
Astrology: Saturn ruler of
Capricorn |
Organization, business and commerce, immortality,
resurrection, new beginnings, success/failure, Gaia as Great Mother. |
Business person, leader and organizer, materialist. |
|
Esotericism sees the 8 as symbolizing a resurrection into a higher
consciousness, and representing the eternal and spiral motions of cycles. It is
this cyclic function of 8 that has come to mean success/failure and give it
it's organizational powers. Behind all of this is the fact that 8 is really 4
(earth) doubled and therefore implying that 8 means intense involvement in
material matters, money-making, industry and commerce, earthly power and all of
'the things of this world'.
Character traits: Ambitious for power, status, money, and success.
May lead to great success or sudden failure. Busy with world affairs.
Interested in the materialization of their dreams and desires (into the
physical world). This person may lead a life of constant effort trying to
achieve their success in all matters and therefore avoid responsibility in
their private lives.

wealth, self-centered, thoughtless.

Astrology: Uranus ruler of
Sagittarius |
Romantic, rebelliousness, determined, easily hurt,
passionate, compassionate, affectionate. |
Humanitarian, intuitive, independent, generous and
compassionate. |
|
Generally speaking 9 is seen as the number of completeness. It marks the end of
the human gestation period and the end of a series of numbers (1-10), as well
as a complete circle (360 degrees = 3 + 6 + 0 = 9). Christ completed his life
and died at the ninth hour. Nine categories of people are called 'blessed' in
the Sermon on the Mount. Because 9 is a number of initiation it is seen as
being liable to injury (since initiations commonly involve ordeals and
mutilations. 9 is a complete number: if multiplied by any other number it
always reproduces itself (3 x 9 = 27 = 2 + 7 = 9). Completeness is symbolized
by 9 as well as by 3 and 7 (but for different reasons).
Character traits: A true humanitarian, a strong desire to serve your
fellow man. A fighter for social causes for the poor and unfortunate. High

fall in and out of love with ease and frequency. A lover of beauty in all
things. May have a difficult early life, but will succeed through determination
and resourcefulness. Impressionable, intuitive and quite independent.

individuals. Easily hurt, and not much emotional stability, may be
quick-tempered.

22 letters of Hebrew Alphabet,
goddess, justice.
Astrology: Venus (symbolically)
(22 = 2+2 = #4 numerologically) and Earth
(symbolically) as rulers this number also may symbolize Taurus (symbolically at a higher level) (because
reducing 22 numerologically = 2+2=4) |
Builder, leader, organizer of humanitarian projects,
practical, idealist, honest, intuitive. |
A Master Builder, able to create in this world. A visionary
with feet on the ground. |
|
22 is a master number representing the 22 letters of the original Hebrew
alphabet and what most of Numerology is based on: the Tree of Life. The 22
paths corresponding to the letters represent the emanations from the divine
being which created the universe, the paths leading down from the Sefira Kether
(the top) are stages in the process through which the universe came into being.
These 22 paths were probably used by the original designers of the Tarot who
used them to represent the 22 Trumps of the Tarot. It is easy to see the power
and sense of completeness that is represented by 22.
Character traits: The vibration of the 22 is essentially the 4

professional world as opposed to the manual labor world of the 4. 22 is a Grand
Builder able to accomplish great things on this earth with the help of others.
